Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) is the holiest day in the Israelite calendar, described in Lev 16. The High Priest enters the Holy of Holies to atone for all of Israel’s sins. The scapegoat ritual (Lev 16:20-22) symbolically carries away Israel’s transgressions.
