Midian is a son of Abraham by Keturah (Gen 25:2), ancestor of the Midianite people. Moses fled to Midian after killing an Egyptian and married Jethro’s daughter Zipporah (Exod 2:15). The Midianites were Israel’s neighbors east of the Gulf of Aqaba.
