Potiphar is an Egyptian official and captain of Pharaoh’s guard who purchased Joseph from the Ishmaelite traders (Gen 37:36). Joseph served him faithfully until Potiphar’s wife falsely accused Joseph and had him imprisoned (Gen 39).
