Overview
Genesis 1-2 contains two distinct creation accounts attributed to different documentary sources:
- Genesis 01 (Text Analysis): P Source - Systematic seven-day creation (1:1-2:4a)
- Gen 2: J Source - Garden of Eden narrative (2:4b-25)

Day 2: Sky and Waters (1:6-8)

Day 3: Dry Land and Vegetation (1:9-13)

Day 5: Sea Creatures and Birds (1:20-23)

Day 6: Land Animals and Humans (1:24-31)

“And Elohim said, ‘Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.’ And it was so… And Elohim saw that it was good.”
- Land Animals: Created before humans
- Animal Categories: Livestock, wild animals, creeping things
Genesis 1:26-27 p-source
“Then Elohim said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’ So Elohim created mankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
- Divine Plural: “Let us make” (divine council?)
