Chapter 10
New Stone Tablets
1
At that time [[YHWH|the LORD]] said to me, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the originals, come up to Me on the mountain, and make an ark of wood.
2
And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke; and you are to place them in the ark.”

3
So I made an ark of acacia wood, chiseled out two stone tablets like the originals, and went up the mountain with the two tablets in my hands.
וָאַ֤עַשׂ אֲרוֹן֙ שִׁטִּ֔ים עֲצֵ֣י וָאֶפְסֹ֛ל שְׁנֵי־ אֲבָנִ֖ים לֻחֹ֥ת כָּרִאשֹׁנִ֑ים וָאַ֣עַל הָהָ֔רָה וּשְׁנֵ֥י הַלֻּחֹ֖ת בְּיָדִֽי׃ wā·’a·‘aś ’ă·rō·wn šiṭ·ṭîm ‘ă·ṣê wā·’ep̄·sōl šə·nê- ’ă·ḇā·nîm lu·ḥōṯ kā·ri·šō·nîm wā·’a·‘al hā·hā·rāh ū·šə·nê hal·lu·ḥōṯ bə·yā·ḏî — WLC · 3
— LXX Swete · 3
4
And [[[YHWH|the LORD]]] wrote on the tablets what had been written previously, the Ten Commandments that He had spoken to you on the mountain out of the fire on the day of the assembly. The LORD gave them to me,
וַיִּכְתֹּ֨ב עַֽל־ הַלֻּחֹ֜ת כַּמִּכְתָּ֣ב הָרִאשׁ֗וֹן אֵ֚ת עֲשֶׂ֣רֶת הַדְּבָרִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר יְהוָ֨ה דִּבֶּר֩ אֲלֵיכֶ֥ם בָּהָ֛ר מִתּ֥וֹךְ הָאֵ֖שׁ בְּי֣וֹם הַקָּהָ֑ל יְהוָ֖ה וַיִּתְּנֵ֥ם אֵלָֽי׃ way·yiḵ·tōḇ ‘al- hal·lu·ḥōṯ kam·miḵ·tāḇ hā·ri·šō·wn ’êṯ ‘ă·śe·reṯ had·də·ḇā·rîm ’ă·šer Yah·weh dib·ber ’ă·lê·ḵem bā·hār mit·tō·wḵ hā·’êš bə·yō·wm haq·qā·hāl Yah·weh way·yit·tə·nêm ’ê·lāy — WLC · 4
— LXX Swete · 4
5
and I went back down… the mountain and placed the tablets in the ark I had made, as [[YHWH|the LORD]] had commanded me; and there they have remained -.
וָאֵ֗פֶן וָֽאֵרֵד֙ מִן־ הָהָ֔ר וָֽאָשִׂם֙ אֶת־ הַלֻּחֹ֔ת בָּאָר֖וֹן עָשִׂ֑יתִי אֲשֶׁ֣ר יְהוָֽה׃ צִוַּ֖נִי שָׁ֔ם וַיִּ֣הְיוּ כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר wā·’ê·p̄en wā·’ê·rêḏ min- hā·hār wā·’ā·śim ’eṯ- hal·lu·ḥōṯ bā·’ā·rō·wn ‘ā·śî·ṯî ’ă·šer Yah·weh ṣiw·wa·nî šām way·yih·yū ka·’ă·šer — WLC · 5
— LXX Swete · 5
6
The Israelites… traveled from vvv Beeroth Bene-jaakan to Moserah, where Aaron died and was buried -, and Eleazar his son succeeded him as priest…
וּבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל נָֽסְע֛וּ מִבְּאֵרֹ֥ת בְּנֵי־ יַעֲקָ֖ן מוֹסֵרָ֑ה שָׁ֣ם אַהֲרֹן֙ מֵ֤ת וַיִּקָּבֵ֣ר שָׁ֔ם אֶלְעָזָ֥ר בְּנ֖וֹ וַיְכַהֵ֛ן תַּחְתָּֽיו׃ ū·ḇə·nê yiś·rā·’êl nā·sə·‘ū mib·bə·’ê·rōṯ bə·nê- ya·‘ă·qān mō·w·sê·rāh šām ’a·hă·rōn mêṯ way·yiq·qā·ḇêr šām ’el·‘ā·zār bə·nōw way·ḵa·hên taḥ·tāw — WLC · 6

7
From there they traveled to Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land with streams of water.
— LXX Swete · 7
8
At that time [[YHWH|the LORD]] set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of [[YHWH|the LORD]], to stand before [[YHWH|the LORD]] to serve Him, and to pronounce blessings in His name, as [they do] to this day…

9
That is why… Levi has no portion or inheritance among his brothers; [[YHWH|the LORD]]… is his inheritance, as [[YHWH|the LORD]] your God promised him.
עַל־ כֵּ֞ן לְלֵוִ֛י הָיָ֧ה לֹֽא־ חֵ֥לֶק וְנַחֲלָ֖ה עִם־ אֶחָ֑יו יְהוָה֙ ה֣וּא נַחֲלָת֔וֹ כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ דִּבֶּ֛ר לֽוֹ׃ ‘al- kên lə·lê·wî hā·yāh lō- ḥê·leq wə·na·ḥă·lāh ‘im- ’e·ḥāw Yah·weh hū na·ḥă·lā·ṯōw ka·’ă·šer Yah·weh ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā dib·ber lōw — WLC · 9

10
I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights, like the first time, and that time [[YHWH|the LORD]] again listened to me [and] agreed not to destroy you.
וְאָנֹכִ֞י עָמַ֣דְתִּי בָהָ֗ר אַרְבָּעִ֣ים כַּיָּמִים֙ וְאַרְבָּעִ֖ים לָ֑יְלָה הָרִ֣אשֹׁנִ֔ים י֔וֹם הַהִ֔וא בַּפַּ֣עַם יְהוָ֜ה גַּ֚ם וַיִּשְׁמַ֨ע אֵלַ֗י יְהוָ֖ה אָבָ֥ה לֹא־ הַשְׁחִיתֶֽךָ׃ wə·’ā·nō·ḵî ‘ā·maḏ·tî ḇā·hār ’ar·bā·‘îm kay·yā·mîm wə·’ar·bā·‘îm lā·yə·lāh hā·ri·šō·nîm yō·wm ha·hi·w bap·pa·‘am Yah·weh gam way·yiš·ma‘ ’ê·lay Yah·weh ’ā·ḇāh lō- haš·ḥî·ṯe·ḵā — WLC · 10

11
Then [[YHWH|the LORD]] said to me, “Get up. Continue your journey ahead of the people, that they may enter and possess the land that I swore to their fathers to give them.”
Yah·weh way·yō·mer ’ê·lay qūm lêḵ lə·mas·sa‘ lip̄·nê hā·‘ām wə·yā·ḇō·’ū wə·yir·šū ’eṯ- hā·’ā·reṣ ’ă·šer- niš·ba‘·tî lā·hem la·’ă·ḇō·ṯām lā·ṯêṯ — WLC · 11

A Call to Obedience
12
And now, O Israel, what does [[YHWH|the LORD]] your God ask of you but… to fear [[YHWH|the LORD]] your God by walking in all His ways, to love Him -, to serve [[YHWH|the LORD]] your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

Yet [[YHWH|the LORD]] has set His affection on your fathers and loved them. And He has chosen you, their descendants after them, above all the peoples, even to this day…

Circumcise - your hearts, therefore, and stiffen your necks no more.

He executes justice for the fatherless and widow, and He loves the foreigner, giving him food and clothing.

Your fathers went down to Egypt, seventy in all, and now [[YHWH|the LORD]] your God has made you as numerous as the stars in the sky.
